Alkahest is another one of our Ouroboros' many children... He is a striking baby black with beautiful burnished and jet black areas, showing how gorgeous he will look as an adult... he is the striking image of his dad Ouroboros, down to the star on his forehead !
Alkahest is SE related, from his elegant mother Reína Shardana...
Sue Kern created the perfect son for Ouroboros, customizing the lovely Breyer PAF mold into this curious and cheeky little "man" for us...
The term alkahest is a hypothetical universal solvent, having the power to dissolve every other substance, including gold. It was much sought after by alchemists for what they thought would be its invaluable medicinal qualities. The name is believed to have been invented by the Swiss Paracelsus, who modelled it on similar words taken from Arabic. Paracelsus believed that the element alkahest was, in fact, the philosopher's stone !
A truly appropriate name, for an Arabian colt this precious and beautiful :)
